The peaceable kingdom,The children of the light 1652-1653
It began in Lancashire one summer afternoon in 1652 when two horsemen blundered into the quicksands of Morecombe Bay. One of the horsemen was George Fox, and one of those close to him at that time was Margaret Feit. From the passionate meeting of these two grew the Religious Society of Friends and the seeds of Quaker history were sown.
Fox lived and preached the Word in a violent, turbulent society. Cromwell never cared overmuch for non -Conformists; and in their turn Royalists and republicans alike went to great lengths in their efforts to degrade and humiliate the new breed of believers. But the courage, the strength in the face of fantastic persecution, the love and respect these people feit for each other -- they were already brightly present, laying the foundations for further glory and further involvement in the years ahead.
